ARCANE WITNESS

The story begins at the end of the life of Greta Meerkatz as she lies submerged in the latrines of Auschwitz concentration camp. Broken in body but not in spirit, Greta refuses to let go of life and, in an effort to keep herself alive, she recalls her childhood with her sister Margret and their manically cruel mother.

Greta remembers the time when the beatings went too far and Margret is killed by the hand of their mother. Greta is removed to live in the house in which her mother works. The house is a Berlin brothel and pre-war Germany is changing…
